APRIL 2012 TRAINING DATE SCHEDULED. SEE BELOW! Linking Generations Free Training & Information Seminars

The delivery of training and support for community groups, practitioners, schools etc in preparation for undertaking intergenerational projects has become an important part of the Linking Generations Northern Ireland Initiative.

The training offers advice regarding good practice from planning to evaluation, give participants an opportunity to discuss ideas and their potential projects and also funding possibilities.

Information about LGNI's previous training events including conclusions about their positive impact can be viewed in Section 4 of the

Linking Generations Northern Ireland has been successful in obtaining continuation funding from The Atlantic Philanthropies for the next three years. As part of this funding, four Information sessions took place around Northern Ireland during November 2011 providing information about LGNI's new work plan, themes of work, training, small grants and funding opportunities. See Related Documents below for more information about these sessions.

We would like to take this opportunity to invite you to attend one of LGNI's Introductory training sessions which will be geographically accessible for all of NI. The next such session in 2012 will take place on 18 April at the Brownlow Community Hub in Craigavon. This training is suitable for anyone interested in learning about the process of setting up an intergenerational project from recruitment stage through to evaluation. It is anticipated that these Introductory sessions will run every two months.

A second type of training for those interested in applying for a small grant to focus on the new prescriptive intergenerational 'themes' will also take place in 2012 (Social Justice, Generational Equity, Age-friendly Initiatives, Shared and Safer Communities and Peace Building). At these Theme sessions participants will be given the opportunity to discuss these topics and explore their relevance to Intergenerational Practice while coming up with ideas for the planning and implementation of an intergenerational project.

The first Theme session will take place on 21 February. Small grant application packs will only be available at these sessions and attendance will be a criteria for application.N.B Please note that our small grants and funding opportunities are only available in Northern Ireland.
