Generations Together
The Government funded Generations Together demonstrator programme ran from Oct 2009 to Mar 2011. The aim of the programme was to enable 12 local authorities to develop and evaluate intergenerational programmes that would become part of their mainstream provision.
12 local authorities were chosen from over 140 bids for the funding, and each received between £389,000 - £400,000 to develop these intergenerational programmes. The 12 successful Local Authorities are listed below and links are provided to their Generations Together websites or project information pages.
As the Generations Together and Inspiring Communities programmes ended in March 2011 it was considered essential for the key learning to be captured and shared. A Legacy event was held on 1st February 2011 in London for the two programmes to secure the learning and ensure that a full and sustained legacy is realised. The event was hosted by the Beth Johnson Foundation and Community Service Volunteers with the full support of the government funding departments.
The conference report produced following the event; ‘Supporting the development and maintaining the legacy’ is available to download from the Centre's website.
All resources produced from the two programmes are hosted on the Centre for Intergenerational Practice website
