HACT: Housing and IP Online Network
Making the most of the age gap – building confident and strong communities
The Housing and Intergenerational Practice (IP) Online Network is a virtual learning network to promote intergenerational links in social housing
The online Network has been developed by HACT the housing action charity in partnership with the Beth Johnson Foundation (BJF), to provide new opportunities for social housing organisations and local community groups to develop structured programmes of work with support from: relevant online resources, materials from seminars/network meetings, access to experts and peer support via dedicated area of the HACT website. The network is part of HACT’s ‘age2age’ project, making the most of the age gap by building confident and strong communities.
Aim of the Housing and Intergenerational Practice Online Network
The network links and signposts to current intergenerational work and provide resource information. In particular, the Housing and IP Online Network seeks to:
- Promote the importance of housing in relation to intergenerational practice – to help build cohesive communities and reduce social exclusion
- Disseminate learning from HACT’s intergenerational project, Age2Age
- Enable housing organisations to engage with the potential that intergenerational activities can offer
- Promote intergenerational contacts and co-learning
- Establish the role of social housing in IP and create an opportunity to bring together housing providers with a relevant interest at national and regional level
- Enable active involvement and sharing of knowledge, ideas and experience with other organisations involved in related intergenerational practice and activities
- Link to the current work of the Centre for Intergenerational Practice, operated by BJF
How does it work?
The Housing and IP Online Network provides a virtual forum to enable members to:
- access current and relevant information through the resource section
- share information about local intergenerational practice and activities
- enter details of local events, meetings, activities, etc, in the online calendar
- share experience through the ‘blogging’ section, and
- place questions to the Network, for other members to respond
Access is via prior registration, through HACT. The online network will be useful to housing providers seeking to improve relations in their local communities, Tenants and Residents organisations, people working in community development roles and in other social policy areas. To register for access, please e-mail info@hact.org.uk
