Interest in intergenerational practice has grown significantly over the last few years. In England the Beth Johnson Foundation has worked with government, at national and local level, to develop thinking around intergenerational approaches and strategies. We also work with partners across the voluntary sector to develop the practice and understanding of intergenerational practice.

Generations Together

Beth Johnson Foundation (BJF) has worked with government over the last two years to support the development of this programme of intergenerational work.

Ageing Well – Intergenerational Development and Support Programme

The Local Government Improvement and Development Agency (LGID), in collaboration with BJF developed a two-stage support programme to help local authorities develop their approach to intergenerational practice. This builds on the progress made through BJF’s Learning and Development Peer Challenge and Support programme for local authorities.

The programme involves two stages:

  • Reviews in different localities, supported by review teams drawn from councils who have already made good progress with their intergenerational approaches
  • Build upon the work in stage one, with action learning style workshops to provide on-going support and the wider sharing of good practice
