Endorsement from Southampton City Council:
At Southampton, we’ve benefitted from Beth Johnson Foundation (BJF) supporting our Intergenerational Practice development in a number of ways over the last few years:
- BJF set up and facilitated a regional Learning and Development workshop that became a network group of IP practitioners. It showed we weren’t alone in thinking we were onto something that delivers real improvements
- We then used the group to challenge many new approaches we were trying out (e.g. testing our new Value for Money toolkit on an IP project)
- They helped us plan and make the best use of our inaugural City for All Ages event, which proved extremely successful in switching on IP awareness across our city. We used BFJ’s reputation to help persuade other national experts to present papers to over 90 delegates who attended.
- Since then, BFJ have provided practical Intergenerational Practice training to many of our SIGN (Southampton Intergeneration Network) practitioners, including a how to Train the Trainers course
