About Us
The Centre for Intergenerational Practice (CIP) is an initiative of the Beth Johnson Foundation. The Centre was established in 2001 to support the development of intergenerational practice throughout the UK and to promote an understanding of the potential of intergenerational practice to address social issues.
The Centre provides a national platform for the development of intergenerational practice by:
- supporting a network of member organisations and individuals with a commitment to intergenerational practice
- influencing policy-makers
- Conduct events
- gathers evidence and resources of the benefits of intergenerational practice
- promotes evaluation of intergenerational programmes and research into the impact of intergenerational approaches
- an accredited Approved Provider Standard
- fosters international links
The Beth Johnson Foundation works in partnership and collaboration with organisations and government, at all levels, to further develop intergenerational practice in the UK, Europe and Internationally. As an example the Centre is working with the National Youth Agency to develop intergenerational work through a joint 'Intergenerational Youth Learning Network' by offering support to youth organisations, developing training and a programme of evaluation around youth led intergenerational projects.
